What is SonicTrek Recording?
STR is my part-time, professional audio recording business. The main concept being that space is limited in my physical location (solo artists, overdubs, vocal and various smaller sessions are welcome). This beautiful Control/Listening/Mixdown Rm cannot accomodate a full band. I have access to a growing list of “satellite” rooms that can be utilized for recording bands (additional nominal fee for the room) but, another great, unique option is that I can bring the studio to you! That’s correct. Have studio – will travel! Turn your basement, living room, office, garage, etc… into a studio for the day and MAKE THAT RECORD!!

My recording system was designed to be high quality, yet, portable – utilizing a Focusrite Clarett 8pre setup to be hosted by a Universal Audio Apollo x8, providing 16 simultaneous (zero latency) tracks on some of the best, cleanest and versatile pre-amps in the digital interface world.

and then some…
It’s not just the interfaces and computer. I come with headphone mixes – covering up to 16 stereo headphone feeds (4 independent), headphones, a variety of respected microphones, stands/clips, cables, sound mitigation, studio monitors, and plenty more items, as needed to get the best audio outcome for your prized material. It truly is like being in “the studio” without the time constraints or studio prices!
let’s talk briefly about live recording your next gig

You might even call it a specialty! We have many options when it comes to recording a live gig. The key is in the details of not only planning HOW to record but, coordinating with all interested parties (i.e. a live sound engineer, the venue, channel/track counts, microphones, sound check, etc…) to ensure the best possible sound capture with the lowest amount of stress for all, especially the performers.
Perhaps more important than the live audio itself is the mixdown of those tracks. Mixdown of live audio can be much more challenging than one might think. It takes years of experience to understand all the factors inherent in mixing live recordings (for one, excessive microphone bleed from other instruments) and being able to deliver cohesive, exciting mixes in a timely manner.
